Like most Penangites, we heard of the Penang Famous Teochew Chendul (Cendol) and Ice Kacang. I believe most of us had it before. Some of you might tasted it since we was young. I remember the first time I had it was back in the 80’s. I was still in primary school.
I visited it atleast once a year and I bring all my oversea or outstation friends here to try out the cendol and ice kacang. Personally, I love Ice Kacang more. Just personal preference.
Alive was the most popular spot for dining and photo taking cafe in Hatyai now. Everyone was here to take photos before they dine here. We decided not to miss out this opportunity as we visit Hatyai on this trip.
Spicy Crispy Shrimp and Cashew Nut Salad was nice but there only a few spicy crispy shrimp inside the salad. It was very sour but a good appetizer.
Fried Pork was too dry. We all kinda disappointed too as it was very dry inside.
We visited this restaurant which hidden inside Kampung Serokam. Many people wasn’t even heard of this restaurant. There are six of us and so we decided to order only four dishes.
We was very disappointed with the plain rice. The rice over-cooked with too much water and too sticky.
The first dishes serve to our table was Steamed Siakap with Dried Pickled White Radish. The steamed fish was very fresh and we all agreed about it. Other than that nothing much to shout about.
Alamak in Jalan Bukit Gambir was one of the trendy mamak stall concept cafe. Price here is pretty much affordable.
Some friends told me that I should try out their Melted Cheese burgers and Coconut Shake. So here I am. I ordered their Melted Cheese Beef Burger with Coconut Shake while my dearest wife ordered the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng.
Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng was not bad but not the best nasi lemak. The fried chicken was serve freshly but it was very ordinary.
We decided to visit one of the cafe near to Esplanade. Friend introduce us to this cafe, so we decide to give it a try. We arrive around 8.30pm and it was difficult to find parking near here. Lucky one car was leaving by time we reach there.
We was greet by the staffs but all table was occupied with patrons. Staffs lead us to the sofa area to have a sit while waiting a couple which they will be leaving soon. After they leave, staffs quicky clear the table for us.
Buu’s Aglio Olio was sauteed with olive oil, garlic, chilli flakes and shitake mushrooms. Topped with cheese and parsley. Spaghetti noodles was not perfectly cooked, slightly under-cooked. And the portion was also slightly smaller than I expected. I tried a bigger portion of aglio olio with the same price in other cafe before. When it serve to our table, my wife already expect I won’t satisfy.
We was back from vacation and decided to have dinner at Queensbay Mall before heading back home. We took a long time to decide what to try out this weekend. We always notice a lot of patrons taking their order so we decided to try it out.
Rice With Salmon & Chicken Thigh Pepper was nicely coated with tare sauce and perfectly grilled. Honestly the rice was too normal but the egg not bad. The skewer of salmon and chicken thigh was slightly smaller in size.
Chicken Katsu Curry Rice was a disappointment. Small portion and the curry was below my expectation.
