We was visiting Ipoh with my parent-in-law. We decided to try out the famous Kai See Hor Fun and Caramel Custard at Thean Chun Restarant, located opposite Concubine Lane. It was Sunday morning and it was very crowded. Lucky we manage to find a table to sit down before ordering our foods.
If you can’t find empty table, you can choose to sit at Restoran Ipoh Kong Heng or Zun Seng Fatt. They will also serve the Kai See Hor Fun to the two kopitiams beside.
Caramel custard was very nice. It was similar to Western’s creme caramel. Very smooth and melt in mouth. Most importantly is it wasn’t too sweet.
Chee Cheong Fun was nice and it was different from our Penang’s Chee Cheong Fun. We did order Satay too but I forgot to take photo of it. The Satay is very nice and the peanut sauce was simply amazing. I pour the peanut sauce on the Chee Cheong Fun and it add another flavour. One word to describe “DELICIOUS”.
Dry Curry Mee wasn’t as good as I expected. Remember to squeeze the lime over it before you eat it.
Kai See Hor Fun was very disappointing. Chicken slices was nothing special too. The hor fun was so smooth, the smoothest hor fun I ever taste. Because of the crowds, we waited over 90 minutes for the Kai See Hor Fun to serve to our table. If you coming here to try out the Kai See Hor Fun, remember to order something to eat while waiting for it.
I feel annoying when there are people keep asking whether we want order the popiah or not. Also there are salesgirl selling coffee and ice lemon tea. Is rude to ask customer when customer are enjoying their meals.
Parking is a headache on weekend or public holidays. It would be crowded with the locals and tourists.
